About the Position

The Director of Therapy and Wellness, GLH plans, organizes, and directs programs delivering rehabilitative and wellness services. In addition to traditional therapy management, this role expands the scope of service to include proactive wellness initiatives such as annual direct-access physical therapy assessments, integration of the Vitala program, and incorporation of personal training services to support older adults in maintaining independence, safety, and well-being

Job Duties

 

Rehabilitation Services

Plans and oversees rehabilitative services consistent with organizational goals and client needs.

Implements policies and procedures that ensure effective, compliant, and high-quality therapy delivery.

Assigns cases and provides clinical guidance to therapy staff.

Ensures appropriate level of care is delivered by assessing client needs and monitoring treatment progress.

Provides leadership, supervision, and mentorship for therapists across PT, OT, and ST disciplines.

Evaluates program data and outcomes to determine effectiveness of rehabilitative interventions.

Wellness Services

Annual Therapy Assessments (Direct Access PT): Oversees the implementation of proactive, preventive assessments for residents and community members to identify risks, promote independence, and connect individuals to therapy or wellness programs.

Vitala Program Expansion: Leads and supports the growth of the Vitala program, ensuring integration with therapy plans and expanding accessibility across communities.

Personal Training Integration: Develops and manages personal training services within the therapy/wellness continuum, coordinating with trainers to complement clinical interventions and support long-term health goals.

Builds partnerships with community and campus teams to promote wellness programming and engagement.

Aligns wellness initiatives with organizational mission and evolving best practices in healthy aging.

Administrative & Leadership

Establishes performance goals, training, and development opportunities for therapy and wellness staff.

Manages administrative functions, including budget oversight, equipment utilization, and resource allocation.

Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and quality assurance metrics.

Engages with residents, members, and community stakeholders to promote services and program benefits.

Coordinates with other service lines (Home Health, Hospice, Home Care, Brain Health, At Home membership) to ensure an integrated approach to care and wellness.

Job Requirements

Education

Graduate of an accredited therapy program (Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy required; advanced certifications in wellness, fitness, or gerontology preferred).

Experience

3–5 years of related therapy management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in wellness program development, fitness integration, or preventive care models preferred.

Skills

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Strong critical thinking and decision-making ability.

Knowledge of wellness and rehabilitation trends in older adult care.

Time management and organizational skills.
