Location:  Alexandria, VA

Pay:  We offer competitive pay for RN Supervisors starting at $50 per hour plus shift differentials!

About the Position

As the RN Supervisor, you are primarily responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of Small House Health Care Center on a designated shift in order to provide and maintain a high level of quality resident care. The RN Supervisor functions as a clinical resource person who coordinates communication with the physician in order to direct resident care on a designated shift. You are directly responsible for the quality of nursing care administered to residents within clinical areas of responsibility, and you actively support the nursing process to maintain quality resident care and evaluates level of care.

 

Key Duties

  • Consistently provides clinical care with professionalism and compassion in accordance with State and Federal regulations as well as best practices as established by Goodwin Living Incorporated.
  • Regularly assesses and communicates information about safety of resident care and safety of the clinical environment and equipment.
  • Participates in environmental rounds and safety/emergency drills.
  • Demonstrates competence in all clinical areas within one’s scope of practice for physical, emotional, spiritual, sensory functional and health promotion care; anticipates resident needs, takes appropriate action if condition has changed; and refers complex care and needs to the nursing supervisor and/or physician.
  • Manages residents’ unexpected emergencies.
  • Manages and administers medications.
  • Responsible for coordination and implementation of resident care.
  • Maintains relationships with outside health agencies and other GHI departments.
  • Maintains effective communication with and feedback from team members in department. Provides consistent feedback including timely completion of performance appraisals.
  • Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior, takes appropriate action within authority, hold team members, accountable, utilizes progressive disciplinary procedures when appropriate, and maintains documentation.
  • Coordinates breaks and meals to ensure all resident areas are properly covered.
  • Participates in the orientation and/or training of new and/or current team members.
  • Provides appropriate and clear direction to the nursing staff.
  • Communicates effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team, residents and families.

 

Job Requirements

  1. Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state required.
  2. Must have a minimum of two years’ nursing supervisory experience.
  3. Must possess a gerontological nursing educational background or be seeking gerontological certification.
  4. Must demonstrate interest in and the ability to teach residents and their families and staff.
  5. Must emphasize commitment to continued professional development through independent reading and study and through self-motivated participation in continuing education.
  6. Must exhibit managerial ability.
  7. Must demonstrate sound practice in using clinical skills.
  8. CPR certification required.
  9. Must possess ability to deal tactfully and effectively with staff, patients, family members and others.
