About the Position
The Day Program Activity Assistant supports the implementation of the Thrive Social Day Program. Thrive is a social model day program designed for individuals experiencing mild cognitive changes or early-stage dementia. This role assists with facilitating activities and groups at Thrive and assists the Day Program coordinator with engaging participants and providing a welcoming supportive environment.
Job Duties
Co-lead and assist with implementing group activities including cognitive exercises, physical activities, hands-on activities and projects and social gatherings.
Assist with preparing daily program materials (handouts, room setup, organization, etc.)
Engage directly with participants, offering individualized support to promote engagement, emotional well-being, and enjoyment throughout each activity.
Provides a positive, supportive atmosphere during programing.
Ensures residents safety during recreation programs; follows safety policies and takes appropriate measures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Contribute extensively toward achieving departmental goals and objectives.
Treat all persons with respect and is a “team player” within the department and within the organization.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment.
Take responsibility for personal growth and learning and projects a positive professional image.
Effectively use resources and strives for efficiency.
Abide by department, personnel, and company policies and procedures.
Must meet regular and predictable attendance requirements.
Performs additional job duties as assigned and directed.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma.
Two years’ experience in activities or related recreational field preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Must have computer skills in basic word processing.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with others.
