Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Safety and Security, the Security Officer is responsible for performing security and surveillance duties at Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads. The Security Officer monitors and maintains the safety and security of the campus, including perimeter security, building entrances and exits used by Goodwin Living staff and residents, and parking facilities.
The Security Officer patrols the interior and exterior of the facility, maintains safety and security standards during emergency situations, communicates effectively both orally and in writing, and completes reports documenting security operations and incidents. The officer may also perform non-routine assignments and non-urgent maintenance duties during hours when maintenance staff are not available.
The Overnight Security Officer is additionally responsible for conducting monthly safety rounds and performing life safety checks of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) located in the Auditorium and Administration hallway to ensure equipment readiness and compliance with safety standards
The pay is $22/hr
The schedule is 12am-8 am Monday to Friday
Job Duties:
- Monitor closed-circuit video surveillance systems, including cameras interconnected with multi-output video switches, multiple monitors, remote digital pan/tilt/zoom controls, and associated equipment. Demonstrate proficiency in computer-based control of these systems.
- Patrol buildings and grounds on foot to observe and detect violations of safety standards and enforce Goodwin Living policies and procedures related to residents, visitors, staff, and the public.
- Provide security services for special events, including setting up “No Parking” signs and assisting with traffic and parking control.
- Assist emergency vehicles in accessing building entrances when residents require hospital transport.
- Perform minor maintenance duties when maintenance staff are unavailable, including replacing light bulbs, installing AHU filters, unclogging toilets, shutting off water to leaking fixtures, resetting chillers when prompted by the front desk, unlocking doors, or assisting maintenance on-call staff during call-in situations.
- Inspect facilities and equipment using inspection logs and report unsafe or improper conditions to maintenance staff.
- Respond to emergency calls as directed by the Director of Safety and Security, Administrator, Nursing Supervisor, or Maintenance Supervisor
Note: Each employee is responsible for maintaining, developing, and improving job knowledge and competencies through completion of required orientation, ongoing in-service training, annual updates, and other required education.
Qualifications:
- Previous security experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard security practices.
- Ability to operate telephone and surveillance systems.
- Ability to make sound decisions during emergency situations.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills for incident observation and documentation.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
